    Naturopathic medicine

As a general practitioner, I see a variety of conditions in my practice. However, I have advanced training in pain management, pelvic health conditions, pediatrics, women’s health, acupuncture and preventative medicine.

Naturopathic visits takes into consideration your mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. I take a functional medicine approach to your health care plan. The first session is a comprehensive hour long visit complete with physical examination. This is an opportunity for you to tell your story. A treatment plan is usually formulated if additional lab testing is not required.

Using a combination of nutrition, supplements and botanical medicine the body is gently brought back into balance and health is restored.

    Acupuncture

Is a component of Chinese medicine that dates back 3000 years. It is a holistic medical model that combines Chinese herbs, nutrition, massage and exercises to restore balance to the body, mind and spirit.

Today over two billion people worldwide use acupuncture either for primary health care or complementary medicine. According to the World Health Organization, acupuncture has been recognized as a safe and effective treatment for over 200 conditions.

Several conditions are alleviated immediately by the administration of acupuncture and/or herbs; however chronic conditions usually involve ongoing treatment. Treatment duration lasts anywhere from weeks to months. Acupuncture has a cumulative effect with each treatment building on the changes of the previous session. Acupuncture enables the patient to become more self aware while improving quality of life.

    Facial acupuncture

Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture is a system that was developed based on ancient Chinese theories and techniques. It is a procedure that helps to turn back the clock and improve overall health. Mei Zen is ideal for the person who wants to diminish wrinkles, improve skin tone and feel great without surgical intervention.

Treatments are usually twice a week for 5 weeks for the face and neck protocol.

    Injection therapy

Biopuncture is the injection of low dose natural substances into specific areas of the body. Most of the substances are made of plant material mixed with an analgesic (procaine) and injected under the skin, into muscles, tendons or joints.

Biopuncture is great for pain management, tendonitis, releasing trigger points and muscle spasms.

  • Laboratory

    Getting to the root cause.

    Standard blood panel

Are you aware that your naturopathic doctor can order standard blood work through lifelabs? Whether you have an on going chronic disease or are looking for a diagnosis, you can rest assured that ordering your labs through an ND is convenient and efficient.

    Female Hormone balancing

Hot flashes, PMS, Menstrual cramps, PCOS, Irritability, water retention, mood swings. These symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that it is out of balance.

Hormone testing is a easy and effective way to find out which hormones are out of balance. Dr. Omole offers both salivary and urinary testing. Find out which lab option is best for you and get control of your hormones.

    SIBO testing

Maybe it’s not gas, maybe it’s Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). It is believed that approximately 80% of people diagnosed with IBS actually have SIBO. SIBO testing is a breath test that is relatively inexpensive, simple and noninvasive. The test is done in the convenience of your home.

Get your gut back on track with the SIBO test.

    Food sensitivity testing

Getting to the bottom of food sensitivities is not always easy. While the standard diagnostic procedure for food sensitivities is the elimination and challenge test, IgG food sensitivity testing is often more convenient and easier.

Dr Omole offers 120 and 200 food allergen test for those who do not or cannot do an elimination and challenge to figure out their food sensitivities.

    Sex hormone testing

Have you or your partner lost that loving feeling? It is not uncommon in our busy society for couples to find themselves in sexual rut. Often people assume this is due to fatigue, stress or a busy schedule.

However, our sex hormones are an important determinant of our sexual drive and health and this applies to both men and women. If you or your partner are no longer interested in sexual intercourse or if sexual arousal is a thing of the past; it might be time to get your sex hormones analyzed. Get that loving feeling back and start enjoying your relationship again.

    Adrenal hormone testing

Do you find yourself taking daily naps? Are you always needing a coffee pick me up in the middle of the day? If this is you, you might be suffering from adrenal fatigue. With our busy lives, more and more people are being diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and cortisol is to blame.

The best way to test for cortisol is via saliva and at different points of the day. If you are tired of being tired, get your cortisol levels checked today.

  • My story

    Dr. Ibby Omole, ND

I am a licensed and practicing naturopathic doctor located in British Columbia Canada. My journey to naturopathic medicine was a rather accidental one. Coming from a family of doctors, I was well on my way to becoming a medical doctor. Not because that was what my parents wanted me to do, but because I have always had this drive to work in the health field. I found medicine fascinating and interesting and I liked the idea of helping people feel and get better.

After I wrote my medical college admission test and was about to send in my application, I started doubting if conventional medicine was for me. I was doing some undergraduate research that started to make me question if the approach to health and disease was the correct one.

I enrolled at York University in the Environmental Health Studies program and did a Masters in Environmental health promotion. Three years later, I was convinced more than ever that I did not want to be a medical doctor because I started to understand the impact of our environment on our health. By environment, I mean the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental environment. I became a vegetarian to my family’s surprise, started growing my own food and buying organic produce, and switched my personal care products.

I traded my gym membership for a yoga membership and started to experience true health for the first time in my life. I no longer had to take naps during the day. Something I had done for years because I was always tired. I had boundless energy. I slept better. My mood and mental outlook was clearer. Despite being under a lot of stress, I was able to manage and control it. I was on top of the world and I felt incredible.

During my masters program, I looked more into naturopathic medicine as a profession and I promptly moved to Seattle to pursue a degree in naturopathic medicine at Bastyr university as soon as the Master in Environmental Studies was completed. While at Bastyr university, I started experiencing insomnia due to the rigorous course load. I decided to try acupuncture and Chinese medicine because nothing else was really working and quite frankly I was at my wits end. I had never really experienced true, can’t fall asleep, then toss and turn for hours insomnia like that before in my life.

To my surprise, acupuncture worked like a charm. Of course, I had to learn how it was able to do what it did with just a few small needles strategically placed on my hands and feet. How in the world was this working? I applied to the Master in Acupuncture program while doing my doctorate in Naturopathic medicine. Five years after I started, I received a dual degree in Naturopathic medicine and a Master in Chinese medicine. That degree took me to China for a 5 week intensive and was that ever and eye opener for me. It was amazing to see all the various conditions that were being treated successfully in China with acupuncture while we were barely scratching the surface in Canada.

Naturopathic medicine and philosophy is a lifestyle choice for me. I have seen the changes and benefits in my own life, my children, my siblings and my parents. For me it is about eating a balanced organic diet, making sure I get regular exercise and while I cannot get rid of my stress, I can sure manage it.

Through naturopathic medicine, I am a much stronger, healthier and balanced person. I have learned the skills and techniques to slow down the aging process, maintain a healthy weight, balance my hormones and ensure that I will be able to enjoy my life into my golden years. In a way naturopathic medicine has and is saving my life.
